    Crystal Waters Boat Tours

    A local boat tour operator located on the south shore, bay of Islands and offers day and evening boat tours. Bring a camera, watch the birds and whales, and relax in the comfort of the warm sunshine. Our tour guides will explain our rich history where you will see the mountains risen up from the magnificent bay, see the beautifully kept communities and the colourful Newfoundland dory boats.     Man in the Mountain

    According the local legend, the Spanish buried a treasure on Shellbird Island in the Humber River, about five minutes from Corner Brook, and about 10 minutes from Irishtown. If you look closely, you will see the face of an old man in a rock formation overlooking the island. “The Old Man in the Mountain” is said to be a marker for the treasure.

    Hughes Brook Nature Trail
    Located on the west coast of Newfoundland, just outside of Corner Brook, near Irishtown. The trail is beautiful, traveling from the Hughes Brook bridge along the river, all the way to the estuary leading into the harbour. The trail area is home to many species of plants and animals, such as the Moose, the Muskrat and the Beaver. Birds include the eagle, the Woodpecker and the Blue Jay.

    Golf
    If it’s golf you’re looking for, we have facilities available within a reasonable driving distance, Blowmidon Golf and Country Club is located about 15 minutes from Irishtown. Check out the scenic view of the courses and enjoy a day of golf.

    Salmon Fishing – The Humber River
    Known for its scenic beauty, as well as great salmon fishing, The Humber River is the #1 ranked Atlantic salmon river in North America and its recreational fishing industry. This historic river was named by Captain James Cook in 1764. The fish are plentiful and tasty! Not something the adamant fisherman would want to miss out on!

    Captain James Cook Monument
    In 1767, the famous British explorer and cartographer James Cook surveyed the Bay of Islands and was the first to map the area. The Captain James Cook Monument is a National Historic Site displaying copies of the charts mapped by Captain Cook. This site is easily accessible by car and offers a vantage point for a breathtaking view of the Bay of Islands.

    Corner Brook Arts & Culture Centre
    Arts and Culture Centre offer a wide variety of programming from the best that Newfoundland has to offer to diverse artists from across Canada and abroad. The Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre opened in March 1968. This theatre houses a 400 seat proscenium theatre, a 25 metre swimming pool and an art exhibition area.

    Marble Mountain

    For some of the best skiing conditions in eastern North America – both downhill and cross country – glorious Marble Mountain is located approximately 15 minutes from Irishtown. For the non-skiers, this – too – would allow for great hikes and adventure, and spectacular sight-seeing opportunities.

    Snowmobiling
    Western Newfoundland is a snowmobiler's paradise. Beautiful groomed trails, spectacular mountain riding, and tons of snow make Corner Brook an exceptional destination. Corner Brook is in the heart of Western Newfoundland's network of groomed snowmobile trails. The trails can be easily accessed from designated areas around the city. Tour operators offer fantastic adventures into the Long Range Mountains of Western Newfoundland

    Blow me Down Cross Country Ski Park
    The Blow-Me-Down Cross Country Ski Club is one of the best cross-country ski facilities in Canada. The park lies in a snow belt, making ideal conditions fro spectacular skiing.
